Haiti fundraiser February 22 onwards

Work by more than 40 artists from across Norfolk will be on show at Sheringham Little Theatre from Monday, February 22, as part of an exhibition and sale in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Hosted by North Norfolk Artspace, the show will feature paintings, photographs and prints, with proceeds going the Disasters Emergency Committee Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Exhibition organiser Karen Bethell thanked all those who had submitted work for the show or donated prints, sketches and greetings cards.

"What was originally intended to be an exhibition of North Norfolk artists' work has turned in to a show by people from all over the county and I've received donations of work from people as far away as Loddon, Kings Lynn, Norwich, Diss and Downham Market," she said.

Because of the overwhelming response to an appeal for submissions and donations, a second exhibition will now run at the First Floor Gallery, North Norfolk District Council offices, Cromer, from March 1st - April 1st.

To see the work on offer, go to www.northnorfolkartspace.co.uk
and follow the Haiti link.

What is NOS
Norfolk Open Studios is delivered by Norfolk & Norwich Festival in partnership with Norfolk artists for the benefit of Norfolk artists. Each year for the last 15 years, hundreds of artists scattered across the county have opened up their studios, homes, garden sheds and outhouses to the public to create a unique and personal visual arts event.

The scheme gives the public a chance to meet artists in an informal setting, see and buy or commission artwork and discuss the techniques and processes used to create the work. It gives artists the chance to connect with their audience and in many cases the public can watch as they work in their studio setting.

Norfolk Open Studios, has established itself as one of the largest and most successful open studio schemes in the country. In 2009, an estimated 27,400 members of the public roamed the county to visit over 350 participating artists in 253 venues and an estimated total of £221,628 worth of art was sold.

RNLI Fundraiser

I was also delighted to take part in this years local fundraiser to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause which was held at the Nicholson Gallery, Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk

The following painting was donated
an outrageous sea

for more information contact Emma Delpech:
edelpech@greshams.com or tel 01263 714 555

Around 30 Norfolk artists featured in this eclectic exhibition for the RNLI.
40% of all sales went directly to this very important charity. Art work included paintings, sculptures and mixed media work around the theme “seascapes”. Artists were selected for their expertise in developing works involving seascape themes, and their love of the Norfolk coast and countryside.
